Case Study 2 : Kingsman : Secret Service

Kingsman the secret service is a 2014 action comedy staring Colin Firth as Galahad , Taron Egerton as Eggsy and Samuel L.Jackson as Valentine. The film was  directed by Matthew Vaughn, through out the film sound is expertly used in each scene, the scene I will be analysing is the  Church fight.

The main sound used in this scene is the song Freebird by  Lynryd Skynrd, the song plays throughout the entirety of the scene. The song is the main Sound you meant to hear as audience member as it is  even louder that the sound effects used in the fight scene. There is very little spoken word used throughout this fight but when there is it from a character who is not in the actual church and the song fades into the background so that we can hear the the dialogue from the characters.

The sound Fx's used in this are lower that the song, but the sound Fx's are extremely over the top as if they are from a saturday morning cartoon a good example of this is every time a punch makes contact to someone it makes a loud banging sound.  The reason why the sound effects are so cartoony is that it makes the brutal violence on screen seem more comical to fit in with the tone and mood of the film.
